Aureus was the fundamental gold currency of ancient Rome and the broader Roman world. Initially referred to as "nummus aureus" or "denarius aureus," it played a central role in Roman monetary systems. However, in Constantine's reforms in AD 312, the aureus was supplanted by the solidus, which became the primary monetary unit.
This piece is completely handmade with lost wax casting method. It’s the process where Hespérides take a hand-carved wax model and turn it into a finished piece in precious metal.
