Opus sectile is a decorative technique, akin to pietra dura, that gained popularity in both the ancient and medieval Roman world. This method involves intricately cutting and embedding various materials into walls and floors to create images or patterns. The materials commonly employed included marble, mother of pearl, and glass.
This piece is completely handmade with lost wax casting method. It’s the process where Hespérides take a hand-carved wax model and turn it into a finished piece in precious metal.
