Daphne Bracelet is made with recycled 925 sterling silver and 24k gold vermeil. Completely handmade.
Daphne was a Greek dryad, a tree spirit, and the daughter of Peneus, the river god. According to myth, Apollo, the god of hunting, music, and poetry, offended Eros, the god of love, by ridiculing his archery skills. In response, Eros shot two arrows: one that filled Apollo with an uncontrollable desire for Daphne, and another that caused Daphne to despise all matters of love. Apollo pursued Daphne relentlessly, and when she could run no more, she appealed to her father for help. Peneus transformed her into a laurel tree. This event led Apollo to adopt laurel leaves as his distinctive symbol, thus connecting the laurel tree to the god Apollo in Greek mythology.

Our vermeil is a layer of fine 24ct gold, plated on top of silver. As this is just a layer it can gradually wear, giving the appearance that it has faded. Every day wear may speed up this process, especially on items like rings and bracelets which have lots of contact knocking against objects. We offer a re-plating service for our vermeil jewelry.
Perfume, sweat, skin and hair products can all react with silver causing it to tarnish, cause vermeil to erode and even damage stones – especially pearls. Always apply your products before putting on your jewellery and leave for a few minutes to be absorbed by the skin. Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray directly onto your jewelry as this can damage it.

This piece is completely handmade with lost wax casting method. It’s the process where Hespérides take a hand-carved wax model and turn it into a finished piece in precious metal.
