Rhea Ring is made with recycled 925 sterling silver and 24k gold vermeil. Completely handmade.
Rhea holds the position of Queen among the Titans in Greek mythology and is revered as the goddess of female fertility and the wild mountain regions. In a crucial event, she managed to rescue her son Zeus from being devoured by Cronus, her husband and the Titan ruler. Rhea ingeniously replaced baby Zeus with a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes, fooling Cronus into swallowing the stone instead of his sixth child. As the goddess of female fertility, Rhea was associated with the nurturing and life-giving aspects of nature, while her connection to the untamed mountain regions represented her wild and independent nature. Her role in protecting Zeus exemplifies her maternal instincts and the lengths she went to safeguard her child from a perilous destiny.

Our vermeil is a layer of fine 24ct gold, plated on top of silver. As this is just a layer it can gradually wear, giving the appearance that it has faded. Every day wear may speed up this process, especially on items like rings and bracelets which have lots of contact knocking against objects. We offer a re-plating service for our vermeil jewelry.
Perfume, sweat, skin and hair products can all react with silver causing it to tarnish, cause vermeil to erode and even damage stones – especially pearls. Always apply your products before putting on your jewellery and leave for a few minutes to be absorbed by the skin. Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray directly onto your jewelry as this can damage it.

This piece is completely handmade with lost wax casting method. It’s the process where Hespérides take a hand-carved wax model and turn it into a finished piece in precious metal.
