Amphitrite Earrings are made with recycled 925 sterling silver and 24k gold vermeil. Completely handmade and set with aquamarines and freshwater pearls.
Amphitrite was the goddess-queen of the sea, wife of Poseidon. She was the female personification of the sea in ancient Rome. Pearl jewelry was considered the ultimate status symbol. In ancient Vedic texts, the pearl is born of the Earth’s waters and the heaven’s powers, fertilized by a flash of lightning. It’s considered to be the daughter of the Moon. The diamond is to the pearl as the sun is to the moon, and we might well call one the “king gem” and the other the “queen gem.” The diamond, like a knight of old — brilliant and resistant, is the emblem of fearlessness and invincibility; the pearl, like a lady of old — pure and fair to look upon, is the emblem of modesty and purity.

CARE
Our vermeil is a layer of fine 24ct gold, plated on top of silver. As this is just a layer it can gradually wear, giving the appearance that it has faded. Every day wear may speed up this process, especially on items like rings and bracelets which have lots of contact knocking against objects. We offer a re-plating service for our vermeil jewelry.
Perfume, sweat, skin and hair products can all react with silver causing it to tarnish, cause vermeil to erode and even damage stones – especially pearls. Always apply your products before putting on your jewellery and leave for a few minutes to be absorbed by the skin. Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray directly onto your jewelry as this can damage it.

This piece is completely handmade with lost wax casting method. It’s the process where Hespérides take a hand-carved wax model and turn it into a finished piece in precious metal.
